The right video can change the world.

Think of how videos have shaped us recently: the “Yes, We Can” video during Obama’s first campaign, the “It Gets Better” videos to help LGBT teens.

Videos change our belief of what’s possible. They can take us from “what is” to “what could be.”

The videos you have the ability to create have more power than you realize. Think of the hundreds of millions of people who have access to the internet these days. Any one of them could potentially watch your videos, and what you say could impact someone out there.

And it’s not just about waiting until you’re “professional” to only shoot “really stunning” videos.

Of course it’s fun to create a video that looks really great AND has a powerful message, but to be honest, some of the best videos I’ve seen are just a person talking to the camera. At the end of the day, that’s what is going to connect you most to people watching: who YOU are.

I’m not denying that there are lots of ways to “fix it in post,” but if you’re relying on that while you’re filming, something big is missing.

Lots of people cover this—and many do it well. The problem (as I see it) is that there is a serious GAP in the information out there.

While lots of people are showing how to create a video, how to edit it, and how to market it—there isn’t as much out there about HOW to be really effective on camera.

This is an extraordinarily valuable skill—and besides, all the fancy gear in the world won’t save you if what’s inside doesn’t work.
