Comfort with silence is a big lesson I’m still working on. When I’m listening, pauses make me see the speaker as thoughtful, pensive, smart. When I pause, I feel dumb. No reason for it.
Totally agree about perspective. “That guy seems wise ‘cuz he takes his time!” vs “Everyone must think I’m an idiot for not crafting all my sentences perfectly!” 🙂
